It is no accident that Austria and the Czech Republic became the hosts of the 2011 CEV Volleyball European Championship – Men. Undoubtedly, we can understand the selection as recognition credited by the European Volleyball Federation to the remarkable 90th anniversary of the Czech Volleyball Federation and its extraordinary past. It significantly contributed to the foundation of FIVB and among others two world champion title dating to 1956 and 1966 and a number of European titles and medals. Above all, the development of the volleyball game and training methods benefited from the world-renowned “Czech volleyball schools” primarily in the 1950s – 1970s.

All these historical facts and occurrences were recalled a modest exhibition of the contemporary photographs which was transferred after a short presentation in the Brno Municipal Theater and at the anniversary celebration to the EuroVolley in Prague and in Karlovy Vary.  Lets be grateful for it! The faces and names which should be recalled and remembered: Kozák, Malý, Musil, Láznička, Paulus, po nich i Smolka, Šmídl, Petlák, Mozr, Koudelka, Schenk, Kop, Labuda and others who reached the volleyball Olympus. “Enthusiasts and volleyball lovers” who sprinkled volleyball with live water and that makes it attractive to the present. The exhibition is a retrospective of the youth volleyball where all the beautiful and great usually starts.
