Fans are here to stay

Volleyball stars may change. So may the whole volleyball teams but volleyball fans are here to stay.

We interviewed fans to be seen in the KV Arena:
Estonian fans had to cover 1,800 kilometers from their homeland to the Czech Republic. Almost five hundred of them clad in blue have been supporting consistently Estonia.

“It is clear who we are. Our volleyball federation announced a sale of special T-shirts just for this EuroVolley. We play and like our team so we bought them for EUR 25 a piece. Of course, our next motivation was good Czech beer.”

Russians, interestingly, missed a massive crowd in the KV Arena.
“I arrived from Moscow, my friend from Voronez. We simply like our team so much. What about the others? I don´t know. I think it was obvious our team will go on. Maybe all the Russian fans are coming to Vienna.”

Local fans may be distinguished through flags marked with the names of little Czech villages as well as big towns. Equipped with drums and cheerleading tools of all kinds, they concentrated on a historically prestigious match with Russia. Among the fans on the tribune there was also President Vaclav Klaus of the Czech Republic.

Although the Portuguese team missed fans in the KV Arena, they found “foster parents” in the Czech fans who supported them throughout.

And Karlovy Vary is looking forward to see even more national colors from the Prague pool for the semifinals.
