Commemorative stamp on the occasion of 2011 CEV Volleyball European Championship of Men

_tn_znamka 2DetailListku1In the morning of Wednesday, August 31st a small ceremony to reveal new commemorative stamp published on the occasion of 2011 CEV Volleyball European Championship of Men took place in the Prague's hotel Pyramida.

New stamp, new filatelic souvenir sheet and two overprints featuring two former Stars of Czech Men's Volleyball – Josef Musil and Zdeněk Malý were presented. Current stamp is 9th in stamps sequence published with volleyball theme by Czechoslovak and Czech Posts, and alltogether 17th postal memorabilia devoted by the Czech post to the sport of Volleyball. The really first one was the postcard published in 1950.

Two milion of stamps is the definitive number and no other will be printed ever, what is usual way, how commemorative stamps are being published. 100 filatelic souvenir sheet and overprints used in one post office in Praha (Josef Musil) and Karlovy Vary (Zdeněk Malý) respectively will be used in the playing days of European Championship only.

Small celebration was attended by the leadership of the Czech NVF, headed by its President Dr. Z. Haník, by the director of Stamps Creation Dept. of the Czech Post, inf. Břetislav Janík and by the President of the Czech Association of the Olympic Filately, ing. Jaroslav Petrásek. The entire celebration was presided and moderated by Mr. Jan Hronek, President of the Czech Part of the Eurovolley 2011 Organizing Committee, who also handed the filatelic souvenir sheet to all present guests.
