Brazil defeats Czech Republic

GibaOn Monday started the 3rd round of the FIVB Men’s World Championship in Italy. Twelve teams divided in four teams play for the semi final-spots. The evening match in Rome saw defending world champions Brazil defeat the Czech Republic, that hosts the EuroVolley 2011 together with Austria, in five sets (25:20, 22:25, 23:25,  25:21, 15:8).

Olympic champion USA had less problems in defeating France in 74 minutes 3:0. “We got off to an excellent start , and our attack and block percentage was almost perfect. I am quite satisfied with our performance, especially with respect to our technical level. We are definitely playing better than at the beginning of the tournament, since we finally have attained the continuity of one line-up”, said US-Headcoach Alan Knipe. Now the US-team faces host Italy next. Knipe thinks that the Italians are the favourites. „Italy will certainly have an advantage since it is playing at home, and has reacquired important players that were absent last year in the World League.”
