Almost 750 children came to Karlovy Vary to play mini-volleyball.
At present, Karlovy Vary are hosting not only top European volleyball teams but also hundreds of youth teams. 743 from all the Czech Republic aged 6 to 12 years came here to compete in several mini-volleyball categories. Mini-volleyball is, in fact, a „miniature“ of the classic game for the 4th – 6th grades. It enables children from the age of 6 to play volleyball on a standard court as the adults do. The court is, however, slightly smaller and the net is lower. Five colors differentiate five kinds of mini-volleyball. So in Karlovy Vary, the yellow, orange, red, green and blue mini-volleyball was played. It is worth mentioning that the project “Mini-volleyball in colors” is financially funded by the World Volleyball Federation FIVB.
Organizers in Karlovy Vary managed to organize the competition on an excellent level. 215 teams were divided into five categorie. Five groups, seven participants each were competing for the overall tournament ranking on Saturday and Sunday. The names are not important. More important is to see young volleyball players enjoying every successful exchange. Performing athletes were accompanied by 215 coaches, 42 referees and 22 members of the organizational staff.
Today the mini-volleyball tournament continues. Thanks to the Czech Olympic Committee, the winner of green mini-volleyball will have a participation at the Olympic Games in London secured.
The youngest players were only six years old.
We could see a lot of passion in the game.
Could she become the future member of national team?
