
Innsbruck, Austria, September 10, 2011 – In Saturday’s second game in Innsbruck, Italia won against Belgium 3-1 (22-25, 25-18, 29-27, 25-15). Italia is now leading Pool C of the 2011 CEV Volleyball European Championship duo to a better points ration compared to France. Belgium couldn’t take advantage of the win of the first set.
Like in Saturday’s first match in Innsbruck, the team that had won the first lost the match. It took some time till Italy found a recipe against Belgium’s high-speed offense, led by setter Captain Frank Depestele. Also Italy’s service wasn’t as efficient as in the end of the match. Belgium used his chances and won the opening set 25-22.
In the second set Italy achieved to decrease Belgium’s reception percentage dramatically and created good opportunities for blocking. Seven kill blocks by Italy in the second set were the result – the “Squadra Azzurra“ took that second set quite easily.
